It's a big week for the Solo: A Star Wars Story marketing. Not only have gotten a new trailer and a new poster for the film, we also learned today that the toys and other tie-in products will be officially hitting shelves on April 13th (this Friday!). The announcement, along with the reveals of several new products, was made on StarWars.com, who also confirmed what the packaging art is (surprise, surprise, it's the art that Lucasfilm and Disney denied being official).
It doesn't sound like there will be any "Force Friday" style launch events for the Solo toys. Which is too bad because those can be a lot of fun (especially when there was actually enough products for everyone on the shelves). However, it is understandable if Lucasfilm and Disney want to keep those events exclusive for the episodic films.
As mentioned above, several new products were revealed in the announcement (this is in addition to the Hasbro and Lego toys that were revealed back in February). The new announcements includes a Disney Store Solo: A Star Wars Story Figure Play Set, a Solo version of Monopoly (yes, it does come with a Qi'Ra piece), and Solo trading cards. You can see pictures of all of these toys below,
You can pictures of more of the products hitting shelves on Friday here!
Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25th, 2018 and stars Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!) as Han Solo, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Woody Harrelson (True Detective), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Thandie Newton (Westworld), and Paul Bettany (The Avengers). The film is directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), with a script by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and his son Jon Kasdan (The First Time).
