Marvel comics announced today that they will be adapting Star Wars: The Last Jedi into a six issue comic book series, with the first issue being released May 2nd.  The comic will be written by Rogue One screenwriter Gary Whitta, based on the film's script by Rian Johnson, and will feature art by Michael Walsh and Mike Spicer.  The main cover and variant cover for the first issue were released online this morning, check them out below,

Much like the film's novelization (which hits shelves on March 6th), the comic adaptation is touted as "featuring never-before-seen material."  Given that the comic is released after the novel and, presumably, after the film's blu-ray release (where twenty minutes of deleted scenes are expected), it will be interesting to see what, if anything, is still "never before seen" by that point.  Hopefully, Marvel has a few surprises left.
