Even though Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the longest Star Wars movie to date, plenty of good material was left on the cutting room floor, according to writer/director Rian Johnson and editor Bob Ducsay. The two discussed some of these scenes during The Last Jedi's press day in an interview with Collider and they shared some details about the scenes that fans can expect to see when the film is released on home media next year.
One scene, according to Johnson, would have seen more of Finn and Rose sneaking around Snoke's star destroyer. The director said,
"There’s a whole extended sequence where Finn and Rose and DJ sneak
through the Mega Destroyer when they’re kind of, after they sneak in
with DJ and they’re trying to find the tracker. There’s a whole extended
sequence. It’s a full sequence of like stuff with them sneaking through
this big office area of the Mega Destroyer and then having to fake out
these Stormtroopers."
He also described a cut scene involving Rey and Luke on Ach-To, saying,
"And then on the island there’s a massive sequence that we shot with
Daisy and Mark, which is kind of an additional sort of trial/test that
she goes through, that involves her and Mark, and then a big emotional
scene between the two of them. I mean, it’s big stuff, it’s like actual
real scenes."
Another scene would have involved Rey and the caretakers of Ach-To. There is also apparently a scene involving Poe catching Finn up on what happened while he was in a coma. Johnson said that all these scenes will be released when the blu-ray comes out next year.
