Two weeks ago, Lucasfilm shocked fans with the exciting announcement that The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson would be creating a new trilogy of Star Wars films set outside the main Skywalker saga. Very little is known about the new trilogy and Johnson isn't likely to give much away about it during the promotional tour for The Last Jedi, but that won't stop people from asking him about it. Which is exactly what someone did during the recent Mexico City The Last Jedi press event. You can see Johnson's answer below,
Johnson said,
"I’m just in the very beginning of starting to come up with what the new trilogy is going to be. What makes me so excited about it, is the idea of doing a new story on the big canvas of three movies in this world. There’s just so much potential and I can’t wait to jump into it."
No release dates have been set for the new trilogy. Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15th.
