Gary Whitta, who was the screenwriter for the first draft of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, was born on this day in 1972.
The British screenwriter made a cameo appearance in the film and was also responsible for coining the film's title.
In May 2014 it was first announced that Garry Whitta had been brought in to complete the Rogue One screenplay.
He said in 2014: "It is deeply special to me to be given the opportunity to contribute to its ongoing legacy, especially in collaboration with a film-maker talented as Gareth. It's literally a dream come true. I am pinching myself."

On March 12, 2015, however it was announced that Chris Weitz had taken over screenwriting duties from Gary Whitta for the anthology film.
The 45-year-old also wrote a scripts for a number of season three episodes in Star Wars: Rebels, including The Antilles Extraction, The Wynkathu Job and Warhead.
