On the long list of directors fans want to see helm a future Star Wars film, Edgar Wright's name is near the top. The British filmmaker is best known for directing cult favorites such as Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz, and he recently teased that he will be involved in an upcoming Star Wars production.
During an interview with Cnet while promoting his newest film, Baby Driver, Wright was asked if he would consider directing a Star Wars film. While the go-to answer would undoubtedly be "yes", Wright played coy and hinted at something Star Wars related that's coming later this year:
"I guess so, yeah. Yeah. I have something crazy, but I can't tell you... You'll see at Christmas."

While it's easy to jump to the conclusion that this is confirmation that Edgar Wright is directing a Star Wars film, the director subsequently took to Twitter to quell those rumors:

With that out of the way, I think his comment about this Christmas is a solid indication he is somehow involved in the production of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Given his close relations with Simon Pegg, who portrayed Unkar Plutt and consulted on The Force Awakens, it's not hard to imagine that Wright managed to get his foot in the door at Lucasfilm. My best guess is he may have some sort of cameo in the film, perhaps as a Stormtrooper, similar to how James Bond's Daniel Craig portrayed the Stormtrooper that Rey mind tricks in Episode VII.
He will definitely be an interesting Easter Egg to look out for when The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15th!
