By Ciaran Duggan,

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith merchandise went on sale at retail outlets.

These went on sale just a month and a half prior to Revenge of the Sith hitting cinemas screens.

On this day, in 2005, over 1300 Wal-Mart stores will be open with all-new Revenge of the Sith merchandise including toys such as Anakin Skywalker's Jedi starfighter, a holographic Yoda figure and trivia pursuit DVD Saga Edition Collector's Tin.

There was also a special "48 Hours of the Force" Wal-Mart event that started at 8am on Saturday, April 2 and continued through to Sunday April 3.

395 stores hosted the special celebration that included interactive toy and game demonstrations, Star Wars character appearances and free Star Wars goodies all weekend long.

Other retailer stores which also concentrated on selling new Star Wars merchandise included Toys R Us and Target.
