While the rest of the world waits for Star Wars Celebration in Orlando next month for our first look at Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, attendees of CinemaCon got their first look tonight during Disney's presentation. Disney screened a special sizzle reel promoting their upcoming films for the members of the film industry and members of the press in attendance. While there was certainly not as much footage from The Last Jedi screened at CinemaCon as there was at the Disney shareholders meeting a few weeks ago, there were at least two shots of interest. iO9's Germain Lussier was in attendance at the event and tweeted what he saw,
I just saw my first footage from Star Wars: The Last Jedi.— Germain Lussier (@GermainLussier) March 29, 2017
In a huge sizzle reel they showed two shots of Rey using with the lightsaber. I'm buzzing. Just two shots!!— Germain Lussier (@GermainLussier) March 29, 2017
While seeing Rey with a lightsaber is hardly groundbreaking, we can certainly understand Lussier's excitement at seeing anything from Rian Johnson's hotly anticipated sequel to The Force Awakens.
Also during the presentation, Disney used this slide featuring the cast of The Last Jedi. While it doesn't feature any new information, one actor is conspicuous by their absence: Benicio Del Toro. See below,

It's especially interesting considering Del Toro was the first of the new cast we heard about (he was rumored to be a part of the film as far back as July 2015). While there is no doubt he is in the film, his exclusion from the slide makes it tempting to raise some questions about the size and nature of his role. However, it is worth keept in mind that also missing is Andy Serkis, who played Supreme Leader Snoke in The Force Awakens. Given that Snoke called Kylo back at the end of Episode VII, it seems likely that he will have a larger role to play in the next film. The most likely reason behind their exclusion is that there simply wasn't enough room on the slide.
Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15th. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and stars Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, and Laura Dern.
