The upcoming young Han Solo stand alone Star Wars film seems poised to add another big name to its already impressive cast. Variety is reporting that Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games, Zombieland) is in early stages talks with the stuido about appearing alongside Alden Ehrenreich in the upcoming film directer by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The role is described as being a mentor figure in Solo's life.
Harrelson would join a cast that already includes Ehrenreich as Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, and Emillia Clarke in an unknown role. The film is slate for a May 25th, 2018 release (though that may be changing).
While Harrelson appears to be the filmmaker's choice for the role, another big name was also considered, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit. Kit tweeted that while Harrelson is definitely in talks for the role, Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) had also been considered for the role.
True that Disney & Lucasfilm wanted someone big for HAN SOLO...before Woody Harrelson, CHRISTIAN BALE was the other big name in the mix.— Borys Kit (@Borys_Kit) January 3, 2017
As always, this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
