So little is known about Episode VIII at this point, including anything about Dern's character.  There has been much speculation and rumors about what her role might be, but nothing concrete.  Hopefully the two women got the chance to share some screentime together when Episode VIII hits theaters later this year.

Star Wars Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15th, 2017 and stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Laura Dern, and Carrie Fisher.  The film is directed by Rian Johnson.
