Following the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story there has been a lot of discussion about what in the film was changed by the infamous reshoots we heard so much about over the last few months. While we've since learned about some of the changes made to the beginning of the film, but fans have pointed out many shots which appear to be from the final act of the film that were seen in the film's trailers and behind the scenes featurettes did not make it into the film. While we still don't know what exactly was changed, a new report from ABC News gives us a small glimpse at one of those changes.
In a feature on the visual effects used to create K-2SO in Rogue One, some new behind the scenes footage of Alan Tudyk in the motion capture suit was released which appears to show an alternate ending for the droid. While it wouldn't have changed K2's ultimate fate, the specifics of how he died do appear to be different. See it for yourself below,
You can see an extended behind the scenes clip of that scene being filmed in another video released by ABC News' Clayton Sandell. The new video is made up entirely of behind the scenes footage of Tudyk filming scenes as K2 on the Rogue One set. Check it out below,
The shot of Tudyk performing K2's alternate death scene, also appears to show K2 dying next Diego Luna's Cassian Andor. They also appear to be lying in the sand, rather than indoors. Seeing as we've seen shots of Cassian and Jyn running with the plans across the beach on Scarif, this suggests to me that at one point the plans were housed in a different location from the communications array used to transmit the plans to the Rebel Alliance.

Hopefully we'll get a chance to some day see some of these alternate scenes from the film. Luna was asked at The Golden Globes if there was an alternate death scene for Cassian. Luna replied, "We shot for seven months, come on, we could edit another film. But this is the best Rogue One you could see, and this is the only one now."
