Lots of awesome and informative news has been revealed recently regarding Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and there's seemingly no end to it. Today, Entertainment Weekly dropped some new tidbits about a certain character that we've been hearing about and spotted a few times.

EW's Anthony Breznican released a report focusing on one alien character from Rogue One. In various pieces of behind the scenes footage that were previously released, you may have noticed a blue-ish colored Mon Calamari. Today we learned that not only is the character's name Admiral Raddus, but his look is meant as a homage to a familiar face from the real world.

As creature effects supervisor Neal Scanlan explains, Raddus was designed with legendary British prime minister and statesman Winston Churchill in mind:

“We always tried to find a real world example of who these creatures may be, and in this case we used Churchill. Admiral Raddus is a very strong figure. We would use [Churchill] not only as visual reference for his physical features, but also when it came to performing him and expressing him through the actor.... It helps to have someone to reference in the real world. It grounds our creatures and ideas. We use these references to pull these creatures back and make them feel like they belong here in our world.”

He also added that other famous people, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ernest Borgnine, Bela Lugosi, Lee Van Cleef, and Peter Lorre, were also used as references for various aliens that may or may not appear in the film. You can read Breznican's full report on Admiral Raddus by clicking here

Additionally, it's also worth noting that earlier today on Twitter, Anthony Breznican was asked specifically about Rogue One's runtime. He surprisingly came back with definitive response:

We may not have it directly from Lucasfilm yet, but Brezincan is about as reliable as they come. And this does match a previous report on the runtime.

In less than a month Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16th!
