Photos and Videos From the 'Episode VIII' Shoot in Malin Head, Ireland

Last week we learned that filming at the Malin Head location in Ireland for Star Wars Episode VIII would be beginning this weekend (with several key players filming scenes there), and today we got a look at what they are doing.  These pictures and videos show us a familiar ship (which had already been spotted in set photos) and familiar face in costume.  While these are by no means huge spoilers (we're lead to believe this is from early in the film), if you are trying to avoid all Episode VIII spoiler then you'll want to stop reading now.  This is your SPOILER ALERT!

First up, some pics (via MakingStarWars.net) of the Millennium Falcon perched on that cliff where we saw it under construction last week,

It's interesting that only the bottom half of the Falcon was built.  Seems like they will only be shooting close-ups of characters in front of the Falcon, and not wide shots.  Which makes sense given that we believe this location is doubling for the part of Skellig Michael (the location where the final scene of The Force Awakens was shot) where the Falcon was parked and they have a full size Falcon built on the backlot of Pinewood Studios in London.  It seems they'll use Malin Head for certain close-ups (possibly when the camera is pointed towards the ocean) and Pinewood for the wide shots.

Next up, Twitter user @sammymcguinn posted a video they shot while driving past the set that shows Daisy Ridley in costume as Rey.  Check it out below,
It's tough to see, but you can see Ridley wearing a costume similar to the one she wore at the end of The Force Awakens (reinforcing the idea that these are scenes on the same planet).  Again it's hard to tell but, it definitely appears that the costume matches the description of Rey's costume that leaked online about a month ago.
And finally, again reinforcing the idea that this is the same planet as the end of the The Force Awakens, Twitter user @Wildatlanticgif tweeted that Chewbacca has been spotted on set as well.  Looks like Chewie and R2 stuck around with Luke and Rey in the time between films.
As for what's being filmed, The Irish Examiner reports that 20 trucks filled with gallons of water traveled to the set to recreate rain for the shoot (it was unusually sunny in Malin Head today).  They also report that filming has wrapped up in Malin Head and will be traveling to Cork tomorrow, where they will shoot for the next ten days (it seems we can expect many more set reports and pics over the next week and a half).

Star Wars Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15th, 2017 and is directed by Rian Johnson.
