Rumor: Frank Oz To Be on the 'Episode VIII' Set at Pinewood Studios

Appear in Episode VIII, Yoda will?  Well, we don't know that for sure but a new report from MakingStarWars.net may be hinting in that direction.  MSW is reporting that Frank Oz is headed to the UK to visit the Star Wars Episode VIII sets at Pinewood Studios.  However, the extent of Oz's visit is unknown and none of their sources have been able to confirm an appearance by Yoda.  However, if you are hoping for a Yoda appearance in Episode VIII, MSW does report that one of the sets created at Pinewood for a scene on Ach-To (the planet from the final scene of The Force Awakens) has been made to accommodate a puppet.

Could we be seeing Yoda as a Force ghost in Episode VIII?  That certainly sounds cool, I would love to see a scene between Rey and Yoda.  And it's worth noting that Frank Oz did record new lines for Yoda for the "Force-back" scene in The Force Awakens (though JJ Abrams ultimately decided to go with classic Yoda dialogue from The Empire Strikes Back) and he has lent his voice to Yoda for a couple of episodes of the animated series Star Wars Rebels.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Episode VIII director Rian Johnson actually spoke about the potential of bringing Yoda back in a podcast he did with Terry Gilliam for The Talkhouse Podcast.  Gilliam told Johnson that, if he brought Yoda back for Episode VIII, he needed to bring Frank Oz back to perform Yoda as a puppet on set.  Johnson replied by saying, "You kidding? How could you not. How could you not!"

Of course, the other possibility is that Frank Oz is just visiting the set for fun or to lend his opinion on something completely unrelated to Yoda.

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
