Han Solo Fan Film Reaches $20,000 Fundraising Goal

An ambitious fan powered project to create a Han Solo short film has just eclipsed its fundraising goal. Han Solo - A Star Wars Fan Film will tell the story of Han Solo going on a daring adventure to rescue Chewbacca. The project is headlined by actor/director Jamie Costa, who will star as the title character. Costa is known online for his viral impressions of icons such as Robin Williams, Johnny Depp, and Harrison Ford. Below is a video of Costa's spot on Han Solo in a mock audition tape.

The fan film has raised over $20,000 in 2 months on IndieGogo, and at the time this article was written, still has several hours before the fundraising closes.

Directed by Kieth Allen, written by Nathaniel Nauert, and also starring Corey Leeper as Chewbacca and Doug Jones as a new character named Gyorsho, the Han Solo film will be shot on location in Utah, and will have a runtime of 8-10 minutes.

Jamie Costa explains that "Unlike most fan films that are on YouTube... it is a full side story[,] not a situational bit or action scenario. But we do have some good action in it."

You can read the full synopsis for the film on its IndieGogo page, as well as see how you can still contribute to the project! You can follow production on the film's official Facebook page and Twitter account.

This is an exciting time for Star Wars, when we have a new theatrical film every year, and many fantastic fan projects in between! We will be watching this project with great interest, and will update you as production starts!
