Report: Best Buy and Target of 'The Force Awakens' Blu-ray Exclusives Revealed

With the (rumored) release date of April 5th for The Force Awakens on blu-ray rapidly approaching, the retailer exclusives are slowly being leaked.  It looks like both Best Buy and Target will have exclusive versions of the release.  A Best Buy flyer was spotted advertising an exclusive Steelbook release of the film featuring Kylo Ren on the cover (the cover matches the style of the Steelbook release of the six other films earlier this year).  Meanwhile, at a Target ad revealed that their exclusive release will include a special bonus disc with 20 minutes of extra content.

I have to say, I'm disappointed by this news.  I don't mind retailer exclusive packaging (or even some sort of retailer exclusive collectible that comes with the film), but the bonus disc at Target makes me worried that other retailers will also be getting exclusive content with their release.  This would make it so fans will have to buy the film several times to see all the bonus features.  Hopefully, the bonus features aren't split up across multiple retailers the way they have been for other blockbusters like Star Trek Into Darkness.

Don't fret, the Target bonus feature will probably be a short puff piece that you can find online.

It doesn't make sense to not release a 3D blu-ray fot this movie

While the Best Buy steelbook isn't quite a match for the recent steelbooks, it's close enough for me to get it.

I wish they'd add a "VII" in the background of the regular TFA logo...

Can't say for sure, but I don't think there's any exclusive "20 minute" content with the Target edition. It says you'll be receiving a "Free Target Gift Card" when you pre-order the target version. Then it says the movie will have 20 minutes of additional content.. that might just be telling us what's on the movie (all version).

Home 3D is going the way of the Dinosaurs. The TV's never took off as hopped and the format is in its final days. Blame video game developers they were really the ones that were supposed to make home 3D a thing.

I don't want the exclusive content. I just want the Blu-ray movie

The 3d release happens later this year

Well I "hopped" on home 3D and I think it's going on as long as movies are being made in 3D 👅
