The latest instalment in the Lego Star Wars video game series was announced earlier this week, and anticipation is high for June 28th release of Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The game's director Jamie Edin spoke with Walmart's Game Center Magazine about what fans can expect from the game.
Edin spoke about how the game will address the 30 year gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, saying, “There will be scenarios where a certain thing happens in the film where you ask, ‘How did we get to this, how did these characters meet, how did this occur?’ and we get to tell some of these stories in the game.”
He also addressed what sort of enemies players can expect to face off against in the game, saying, “There will be a special kind of builder Stormtrooper who will get into the middle of a pile of bricks to build a turret or a shield generator or a satellite dish that will call a TIE fighter bombing run.”
We had heard previously that John Boyega would be reprising his role as Finn in the game, and Edin confirmed that the game would feature new dialogue from The Force Awakens cast members. He told Game Center, “This will be the first LEGO Star Wars title to have full voice acting.” Previous Lego Star Wars games did not include actual dialogue, having the characters grunting their dialogue to great comedic effect. Edin wouldn't confirm what other actors would be reprising their roles from the film. Boyega, Daisy Ridley (Rey), Oscar Isaac (Poe), and Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) all reprised their role for Disney Infinity 3.0 so it's seems safe to assume at least some of them will do it again.
