With a new Star Wars movie coming out every year for the foreseeable future, Star Wars fans will have to come to terms with the fact that they all won't be scored by the legendary John Williams.  And soon.  Next year's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be scored by Oscar winner Alexandre Desplat, and apparently one scene in The Force Awakens was scored by someone else.  Tonight, during his appearance on The Tonight Show, director JJ Abrams announced that composer Lin-Manual Miranda, who's work includes the Broadway musical Hamilton, scored the sequence in Maz Kanata's castle in The Force Awakens.

You can see Abrams make the reveal in the video below,

Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted his reaction to the news being public,
This isn't the first time someone else has been called in to compose the diegetic (meaning in-universe) music in a Star Wars film.  John Williams' son Joseph composed Lapti Nek for the 1983 release of Return of the Jedi.  And, Lapti Nek's Special Edition replacement "Jedi Rocks" was composed by Jerry Hey.
