The new trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens has everyone all excited and with good reason, it was awesome!  But if the trailer, which has been viewed over 128 million times, wasn't enough for you and you want to know more about the plot of The Force Awakens, we've got good news for you.  Our pals over at MakingStarWars.net have some new details about Princess Leia's first scene in the film.  As usual, there is a chance this may not be true but if you are trying to avoid all The Force Awakens spoilers then stop reading now.  This is your SPOILER ALERT!

This sequence reveals how Princess Leia learned that Poe Dameron has survived his mission on Jakku (where he and BB-8 went to retrieve Luke Skywalker's lightsaber from Lor San Tekka --played by Max Von Sydow-- only to be followed and captured by Kylo Ren and The First Order.  He escapes with Finn in a TIE Fighter, but they are separated when they crash).

According to Making Star Wars,
"Leia’s first appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens occurs when Brance steps in and lets her know that she has an urgent message from Poe Dameron who needs to be rescued after the Special Ops TIE Fighter he had stolen crashed, marooning him on Jakku. This is also how Leia learns to send an emissary to Takodana and intervene in the story’s events."

This scene fills in a major gap in what we know about The Force Awakens.  One of the big questions we've had is how Leia knew to send the emissary (played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers) to follow Han, Chewie, Finn, and Rey to Takodana, as well as how Poe himself managed to get from Jakku to Takodana.

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
