This weekend New York Comic Con returned to the Big Apple and, as usual, the SWU crew was there to report on the latest breaking news, as well as catch up with the talent behind the scenes. Star Wars Rebels took the spotlight for most of the convention and the cast and crew was was in attendance, including executive producer Dave Filoni. I had the pleasure of speaking with Filoni about season two of the series and he had some surprising things to reveal to us.

When asked about how they plan to eventually bring the Rebellion together on the show, Filoni discussed the different Rebel cells that were established in the previous animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and he confirmed that none other than Twi'lek freedom fighter Cham Syndulla will be making an appearance in Rebels sometime soon. You can watch the interview below:

As Filoni mentions, Cham is the father of the Ghost crew's expert pilot Hera Syndulla. The creators previously revealed that season two will explore each character's backstory much deeper than we've seen before. In one of the recent Rebels episodes Hera mentions that Clone Troopers once saved her life, seemingly referencing the revolution that took place on Ryloth during the Clone Wars. This season will undoubtedly see Hera cross paths with her father once again and reveal more about her early history and possibly explain why she was motivated to rebel against the Empire. The rest of season two sounds very exciting, especially with the addition of more classic characters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

You can listen to an extended version of my interview with Dave Filoni, as well as my interviews with Star Wars Rebels stars Taylor Gray (Ezra Bridger) and Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) on our most recent Podcasts, below:
