John Boyega was a huge Star Wars fan before he got the role as Finn in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, so it should come as no surprise that he would have an emotional reaction to reading the script for the new movie. Boyega told GQ that, "When I read the script I cried, and I’m not really a big crier ... I’m more like a frog-in-the-throat kind of guy, who’ll try to hold it in and make sure I don’t let it all out."
Tears of joy, we assume. Though they may have also been tears of relief. Boyega explained that the audition process for The Force Awakens was extensive. "I was unleashed into seven months of auditions. It was like The X Factor but without the TV show around it. It was intense."
As for what's in the script, all Boyega would say is that Finn was described as, "quirky and charismatic and funny." Boyega himself described Finn by saying, "Finn is dope. He is a heightened Hollywood leading man version of myself; his story is so epic."
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18th, 2015 and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, and Harrison Ford
