This morning as part of the "Force Friday" Live Stream event, the toy everyone was hoping for was revealed on Good Morning America. The GMA hosts revealed the new remote controlled BB-8 toy, which is controlled by your smartphone. Check out Sphero's video of the toy in action below,
And if that wasn't enough, Vanity Fair has this video of puppies playing with it. Check it out here.
The Wall Street Journal has a few more details about what the BB-8 can do,
"In addition to driving BB-8 around like a remote-control car, you can
also activate preset routines. Send him off to patrol his surroundings
on autopilot. (He can’t see, so don’t put him near the stairs. If he
runs into furniture, he’ll just stop and roll a different way.) Activate
“Joy module” to make him do a little dance. You can even command him
using your smartphone’s microphone. Yell, “It’s a trap!” and he’ll
careen off. He understands “Look around,” “Wake up,” and other commands,
too. (Just say “Hey BB-8” first.) BB-8’s capabilities will increase
over time, via software updates, according to Sphero."
The toy will be available as of 12:01am tonight and will cost $150 USD.
This was definitely the stand out toy of all the reveals during StarWars.com's live stream, which turned out to be a lot of fun. Now the question is, will you be picking one up? Let us know in the comments.
