Simon Pegg Reveals Tidbits About 'The Force Awakens'

Simon Pegg is the latest actor to have a confirmed role in The Force Awakens, of which we learned of from the amazing behind the scenes reel that we saw at San Diego Comic Con. Pegg also stars alongside Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, which was released yesterday. In turn, Pegg has been making the rounds in the press recently to promote Rogue Nation, and of course, Star Wars has come up in various interviews.

First off, Pegg spoke with Yahoo! Movies who quizzed him on the Comic Con reel and he revealed that the footage wasn't initially intended to be revealed to the public:

"I had seen it actually because they had shown it for us when we wrapped the movie. I never expected the world to see it. It was lovely and it was initially intended as just a thing for the cast and crew to watch and to remember the experience. But I was very proud, and I was relieved as well, because now I can finally at least acknowledge that I'm in it."

He also had some words for fans who may be getting a little impatient with the film:

"You know, it's out in four months. People are so desperate to see it, another trailer is just going to be more footage that's going to kinda spoil it. It's best to just wait. It's going to be four and a half months and you'll be able to see the film. I just wish people would hold tight and not worry so much about it."

You can watch the full interview below:

Secondly, Simon Pegg sat down with MTV to whom he apologized to for lying about his role in Episode VII previously, jokingly saying that his NDA "came with electrodes, which are pressed into the base of my skull,” And to follow up on the ongoing rumor that James Bond star Daniel Craig is playing a Stormtrooper in the film, which Pegg appeared to confirm previously, MTV inquired about the cameo. He responded:

"“No, you won’t [see him],” he laughed."

The fact that the Comic Con reel was, in fact, not created for San Diego Comic Con is very interesting. I think we all can agree it was a very wise decision to release it to the fans. And unfortunately his comments about Daniel Craig make that situation all the more confusing. Does he mean he won't be in the film, or does he mean we won't "see" him because he'll be wearing Stormtrooper armor, and thus unrecognizable? I guess we'll have to wait and, well, see on December 18th.
