Last week we learned that Disneyland in Shanghai, China will be getting it's own Star Wars attraction soon. Now Chinese Star Wars fans have something else to get excited about! Disney's "Jedi Academy" attraction, which has been enjoyed by millions of young fans in the United States at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, is making the jump to the other side of the World, Hong Kong to be exact. StarWars.com announced today that the popular event will be coming to Hong Kong's Time Square shopping center for a limited time to kick off what they describe as a "large-scale, multi-phase exhibition featuring the entire Star Wars saga." Aspiring Younglings from ages 6-12 are welcomed to participate.
In addition, to promote the arrival of the Jedi Academy, a TV spot featuring film & TV star Aarif Lee battling Darth Vader was released, which you can check out below:
Because of political turmoil at the time, the Original Trilogy was not shown in China upon it's first theatrical release. Just recently the films screened in the country, and now with this new initiative, Lucasfilm no doubt wanting to catch Chinese viewers up on the Saga and get them ready for the release of The Force Awakens later this year. StarWars.com also explained their plans for further events in Hong Kong:
"The next big initiative is the Star Wars fan parade that Disney is hosting at Hong Kong Disneyland on July 27. This will likely be the biggest Star Wars parade in Asia, with over 110 members of the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion from nine different Asian territories."
The Force is indeed strong with China now!
