'Dark Disciple' Debuts at #17 on The New York Times Best Sellers List

It should comes as no surprise that a Star Wars novel has hit the New York Times Best Sellers list, after all they've been doing so since 1991!  But it's always exciting to see it happen and there's something extra special about this one (especially for fans of The Clone Wars).  The recently released novel Star Wars: Dark Disciple by: Christie Golden debuted at #17 on the New York Times Best Sellers List.  It's just the second novel of the new canon to do so, with Paul S. Kemp's Lords of the Sith also debuting at #17.

Of course the inclusion of any Star Wars novel on the Best Sellers list speaks to the power of the franchise, but the fact that this novel based on eight unproduced script of a much loved TV series that was cancelled before its time, I think, speaks to power and the love that still exists for Star Wars: The Clone Wars.  It's been pointed out by many fans that Dark Disciple debuted at the same spot on the list as a novel that starred (and featured on the cover) two of the most iconic characters in Star Wars.  And while the list is not necessarily a direct reflection of sales, its placement is still a statement from The Clone Wars fans.

Of course we want to congratulate author Christie Golden and everyone behind the scenes at Lucasfilm and Del Rey for this achievement!  I just finished Dark Disciple earlier today and can tell you it definitely earned its place on this list.  If you haven't picked up a copy yet, what are you waiting for?

You can hear Golden discuss the novel on the latest SWU Podcast below,
