Another member of the Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One cast seems to have been found. Variety is reporting that Forest Whitaker is in talks to join Felicity Jones in the Gareth Edwards directed film. Whitaker is best known for his role as Jon Kavanaugh in the award winning series The Shield. Disney and Lucasfilm, of course, declined to comment on the story.
So far the only cast member for Rogue One that has been officially announced in Felicity Jones, though Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, and Ben Mendelsohn also reportedly star in the film. It will be interesting to see when we get any official casting announcements for this film as Disney has agreed not to promote the film this year (Celebration was the exception) to avoid confusion with Paramount's Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. The film is expected to go into production this fall.
Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One is set between Episodes III and IV and will follow a group of Rebel soldiers who steal the Death Star plans. The film is directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) with a screenplay by Christ Weitz (About a Boy). It opens in theaters on December 16th, 2016.
