Rumor: John Williams to Record Some of 'The Force Awakens' Score Next Month

We've known for a while that John Williams would be scoring Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens over the summer in LA, but some of the specifics have been vague at best.  Now our friends over at MakingStarWars.net have heard from their sources that John Williams will be scoring a portion of the film's music next month.

According to Making Star Wars,
I have received word in that last few days that John Williams will record some of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens score in Los Angeles next month. The rough cut of the film is expected to be in good enough shape that Williams can start working. Some of what Williams records next month will be used in the final film, but there is a chance that there will be some re-recordings and revisions of the pieces to be laid down.

I have been asked not to name any specific names yet of the players. However, there will be some guest musicians from other orchestras flown in to sit in on the sessions. Many musicians have been put on call for recording future teasers but now some of those musicians are learning that they are actually going to be playing on the film’s soundtrack recording.

It truly is a great time to be a fan!  I can't wait to hear what John Williams has come up with for the music in The Force Awakens.

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
