Paramount released the first trailer for the fifth Mission Impossible movie, titled Rogue Nation, this weekend, drawing comparisons with the title of the 2016 Star Wars Stand Alone film Rogue One.  The Hollywood Reporter revealed this weekend that had Paramount wanted to, they could have blocked Disney from using the title.

However, the two studios reached an agreement that Disney will not promote Rogue One during the summer, with Rogue Nation hitting theatres on July 31st.  There is one exception to this and that is Star Wars Celebration, coming up this April 16th-19th in Anaheim, California, Lucasfilm's official Star Wars fan convention.

As for how and why this agreement came to be, according to THR
"Paramount registered and cleared the title with the Motion Picture Association of America in January, well before Walt Disney chairman-CEO Robert Iger announced the name of the Star Wars spinoff at a shareholder meeting March 12.

Sources say Disney didn't clear its title, meaning Paramount could have fought to block Disney and Lucasfilm from using it at all, even though Rogue One won't open until Dec. 16, 2016, long after Rogue Nation has come and gone."

It's good to see that the two studios were able to work together on this.  It's understandable that Paramount would be upset over Disney using a "Rogue" title, but with enough time between the two releases (about a year and a half).

On another note, does the fact that the Disney/Paramount deal includes an exception for Star Wars Celebration mean that we can expect some Rogue One news in a couple of weeks?  So far we only know one cast member, Felicity Jones, so perhaps more of the cast could be revealed.  Or maybe some more concept art, or details about the plot or era of the film.  We'll find out in just 23 days....
