Ever since Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens was announced there have been rumors about it. And things only got crazier once principle photography began. Director JJ Abrams, who is know for his secretive ways, addressed the current state of rumors at the Irish Oscar Wilde awards last night.
Abrams told the BBC,
"We did the best we can to preserve the story for the audience, but it doesn't always work.
There are a ton of rumours - some true, some false. But I'm grateful
for everyone who would want to read a spoiler because it means that
they care and want to see the movie.
I know what it feels like, as an enormous Star Wars fan myself."
I really like this response from JJ. It shows that he understands why fans are going after rumors, and he is not complaining about it either. Clearly he recognizes the hunger that exists for the film and that there is not a whole lot of official information out about it yet.
Abrams also gave a minor update on the current state of the post production on the film saying,
"I can't wait for you to see it. It's been a blast working on this
and luckily we have an incredible post-production team.
There are always challenges as you go but it's been a complete kick to put this together."
Carrie Fisher was also on hand at the awards where she received a special honor.
