The teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens has been viewed over 100 million times online, but none of those views came from the man who started it all. George Lucas spoke with Page Six recently and revealed he had not yet watched the trailer for the next Star Wars movie. When asked about it he said, "I don’t know anything about it. I haven’t seen it yet."
He then explained that he hadn't seen it yet because it had not been in theatres, saying, "Because it’s not in the movie theater. I like going to the movies and watching the whole thing there. I plan to see it when it’s released."
It's no real surprise that Lucas hasn't seen it. The man is retired, after all, and probably trying to separate himself from the Star Wars franchise for a little while, especially after being so involved for the past 20 years, after working on the prequels and The Clone Wars. Plus he's pretty busy working on his new museum, that will be opening in Chicago in the not too distant future. Lucas did serve as a consultant early on, but seems to have completely stepped away as principal photography began. I do hope that Lucas doesn't have to wait until the movie comes out to see it and that JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy will bring him to have a look at film before it's released.
