Fortune Magazine’s New Front Cover Reveals Bob Iger And New Millenium Falcon Image

By Ciaran Duggan

The illustrious and famed Fortune magazine has a deep and profound history of capturing images of chief global business executives since its founding in 1929. The latest issue – to be released next month – possesses a front cover showcasing Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger at the forefront and in the background, a schematic of the updated and refined Millennium Falcon (as seen in The Force Awakens teaser trailer last November), as you can above.  In addition, another image of Iger with the Falcon was released by Fortune, which you can see below,

The photographs of Bob Iger was originally taken earlier this month. This photo was then distributed to Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) to “work their magic”. The Force Awakens visual effects art director, Yannick Dusseault, and his collaborators rendered the photograph to include the Millennium Falcon, composing six different forms of the Millennium Falcon and permitting Fortune to select one of these for the final cover photo (these six styles ranged from a skeletal version of the Millennium Falcon to a “textured render” amalgamated with Photoshop to fashion the final picture as seen on the Fortune cover).

The picture itself is symbolic of Disney’s endeavors to perpetually reinvent itself (a coveted goal since its inception in the early twentieth century). This attitude generated by the Disney hierarchy has certainly been implemented onto Star Wars; as the Millennium Falcon projected on the front cover of Fortune magazine overtly embodies the latest renovation of the Star Wars Saga.
