Greg Weisman to Leave 'Star Wars Rebels' After Season One

When Star Wars Rebels, the new animated series from Lucasfilm animation, was first announced we were introduced to three executive producers, Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman.  It seems season 2 will have one less.

Eagle eyed readers will have noticed that Weisman's name was absent from the press release announcing Season 2 of Rebels, leading many to believe he had departed the show.  This was confirmed a short time later when Newsarama got in touch with Weisman's representatives who confirmed that he was no longer working on the show.

This shouldn't come as any real surprise.   Weisman's involvement in promotional material for the series has decreased in the past few months.  He no longer appeared in any of the behind the scenes videos and was not a part of the panel at San Diego Comic Con, despite being at the convention.

All that being said, we would like to thank Greg for his time working on Rebels.  Those of us that have seen the premiere episode know that show has certainly gotten off on the right foot.  And we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors (hopefully something else at Lucasfilm?)
