The big Star Wars: The Clone Wars news we were promised this week has arrived, and while it's not new episodes it's the next best thing.  Lucasfilm announced today that will be releasing the "Story Reels" (unfinished animation) of a season 6 arc that featured Anakin and Obi-Wan on an adventure on Utapau.  While not fully animated, the episode arc, titled Crystal Crisis on Utapau, is fully voiced by the cast of The Clone Wars.

Check out the first episode, "A Death on Utapau", directed by Steward Lee and written by Daniel Arkin, here: Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Story Reel: A Death on Utapau on Star Wars Video

In addition to this, a video was released featuring The Clone Wars Supervising director Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm story group member Pablo Hidalgo, Lucasfilm Editor Jennifer Heddle, The Clone Wars Season Six head writer Matt Michnovetz, and Del Rey Editor Frank Parisi discussing the legacy of the series and how some of the remaining stories will be told.  The covered the recently completed comic series Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir, the Story Reels for Crystal Crisis on Utapau, and the upcoming novel starring Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos, which they revealed the title will be Dark Disciple.

While it's not new episodes, this truly is the next best thing for fans of The Clone Wars as we will be getting these stories.  It seemed to me that, it's implied in that there may be more stories from The Clone Wars released in these mediums.  Hopefully we'll get some more announcements about those soon (assuming there are more).

I also want to say just how happy I am to get this news.  It would truly be a shame never to release amount of material that was worked for future seasons of The Clone Wars.  I, also, want to thank Lucasfilm for this gesture to its fans.  Now if you'll excuse me I have some The Clone Wars story reels to watch!
