The official Star Wars website recently posted an Episode VII production update, giving fans more insight on casting information. Last year, Lucasfilm and Disney held an open casting call across the United States and the UK for undiscovered talent to read lines from the characters of "Thomas" and "Rachel" at the audition.
StarWars.com revealed that the two roles they were searching for have been cast. The female role went to Crystal Clarke, an American actress who is currently studying in Glasgow, UK, and British actor Pip Anderson will fill the male role. Clarke's first feature, The Moon and the Sun, is scheduled for release in 2015. Anderson's parkour abilities made him stand out in his recent Spider-Man ad for Sony.
“The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering and nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition," said Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. "We are delighted that so many travelled to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make Crystal and Pip a part of the film."
