The latest name to be added to the (extremely) long list of names rumored to be in the film is Andy Serkis! Serkis is best known for his role as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. The List is reporting that Serkis attended a private dinner at a London restaurant last night with Episode VII director JJ Abrams and several other members of the cast (including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, and Adam Driver).
Serkis is a name we had not heard connected to the project before, however that really doesn't mean much considering the level of secrecy Lucasfilm and JJ Abrams operate at. Dunc over at Club Jade points out that given Serkis' reputation as "Hollywood’s #1 mo-cap guy", he could just be there to offer advice to other actors who will be playing characters enhanced by CGI through motion capture in the film.
As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
