Kinberg: "Canon is the Six Films"

 Star Wars spin-off film writer, Episode VII consultant, and Rebels executive producer spoke with IGN this past weekend.  When asked about the potential of the Expanded Universe being mined for inspiration for projects.  Kinberg said that while Rebels would "take inspiration from everywhere", when it came to the films he said, "the canon is the canon, and the Canon is the six films."

I think that finally puts to bed the idea that the new films will have anything to do with the current expanded universe material.  Don't be fooled by the title of the video, Kinberg clearly says "Canon is the six films."  There's not much wiggle room there.
