Since the initial announcement for Episode VII nearly a year ago we've heard tons of rumors about the return of the "big three", a.k.a Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher & Harrison Ford. Specifically, Mark Hamill has gone on record about being contacted by George Lucas & Lucasfilm about reprising his role as Luke Skywalker in Episode VII. Now we have another rumor about Mark, this time coming from an unusual source. ComicBook.com talked with Robert Englund at the Nashville Comic Expo and he, surprisingly, had something to say about Mark's involvement in Episode VII. Englund, who's best know for playing Freddy Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street and a longtime friend of Mark Hamill's, dropped an interesting tidbit during the conversation:
“Mark now—they’ve got Mark in the gym, because Mark’s coming back as Luke Skywalker. They’ve got him doing his sit ups,”
Now this is in no way a confirmation, but I think we can all agree that Mr. Englund is a reliable source. An official confirmation from Lucasfilm is imminent, but until then, we should consider this a rumor.
In the meantime, check out this amazing piece of fan art featuring Mark as older Luke Skywalker(Created by Dln88 on DeviantArt).
