A new report coming from a Disney investor conference, courtesy of
Variety, has revealed several interesting things about the future of the Star Wars franchise. Disney's chief financial officer Jay Rasulo spoke in length about Star Wars in a presentation at the conference that was held in Beverly Hills, California. In addition to calling it an "evergreen property" and touting the franchises continued popularity thirty five years after it's inception, Rasulo explained Disney's desire to expand Star Wars farther than Lucasfilm ever did, bringing housewares and merchandise to the World-wide market. But that's not the interesting part. What's intriguing is when Rasulo discusses the upcoming spin-off films, he refers to them as "Origin story film[s]". Now, we've been
hearing rumors for some time now about character specific films that would focus on Boba Fett, Yoda and Han Solo, but this is the first official word we've gotten from Disney about what to expect from these movies. Be sure read the
entire article on Variety to get all of the details!
Look for the first spin-off/origin film to be released in theaters in 2016 as well as new one every-other-year after.
So, which character origin stories would you like to see fleshed out on the big screen? Let us know in the comments below of on
