Hasbro Cancels "Droid Factory" Line of Figures

It is certainly an interesting time to be a Star Wars action figure collector.  It was recently announced that the "Vintage" line of figures would be making a return this spring with a "best of" wave of figures. And now the line that was originally to take Vintage's place, the "Droid Factory" line has been canceled.  This was first picked up on yesterday by Jedi News, who reported on a tidbit from a Target database that listed the Droid Factory figures as "Discontinued".  Today, Hasbro confirmed to Rebelscum that the has indeed been canceled saying "the Droid Factory has been Globally dropped. Some of the figures however will be used in other assortments this fall."

No word on why this is, although the natural assumption is that the 3D re-release of Attack of the Clones being moved back to September and the 3D re-release of Revenge of the Sith being moved up to October likely had an adverse effect on the intended release dates for these figures.  Still, it's a sad day for Star Wars collectors.
