After it was announced that Disney purchased Lucasfilm and that Star Wars Episode VII was slated for a release in 2015, every director in Hollywood was rumored to be at the helm of the new film. While we don't know who the director will be, we're learning who has been offered the job and turned it down. First it was J.J. Abrams and now Guillermo Del Toro has come out and revealed that he too was approached for the job. Del Toro told The Playlist that "We got one phone call to my agent saying, ‘Is Guillermo interested?’
And basically I have so much stuff already of my own, and I’m pursuing
stuff that I’m generating already…" Del Toro then added that "It was very flattering. It was just a phone call, it
didn’t go past that, it was very nice to be asked, but believe it or
not, I’m busy enough."
So, another director approached, another one turned it down. Would you have liked to see a Star Wars film directed by Guillermo Del Toro? Let us know in the comments.
