Filming for Star Wars: Episode VIII is halfway done, so says writer and director Rian Johnson. In a new post on his Tumblr today, Johnson announced the news, and even better, revealed some brand new set photos from the film. Drewe Henley, 'Red Leader', Dies At Age 75

By: Benjamin Hart

We have more sad to report today. Drewe Henley, who was widely know as "Red Leader" in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, has passed away at the age of 75. Henley had a fantastic career which began back in the early 1960's. He was known for his roles in films such as Nothing But The Best(1964) and When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth(1970), as well as several Television series including The Doctors and Space: 1999. Henley would go on to have a small but pivotal role in "Star Wars", as it was know at the time, portraying pilot Garven Dreis. Dreis, who was acknowledged on screen as Red Leader, flew alongside Luke Skywalker(Mark Hamill), Wedge Antilles(Denis Lawson) and Biggs Darklighter(Garrick Hagon) amidst the Battle Of Yavin and through the iconic trench of the first Death Star.

Shortly after appearing in Star Wars Henley was diagnosed with depression and he retired from acting, subsequently running a bed and breakfast with his wife.

Our most sincere condolences go out to the friends and family of Drewe Henley. His life has left a lasting imprint on the Star Wars saga and pop culture abroad.

Poe Dameron Gets A 'The Force Awakens' Character Poster

By: Benjamin Hart

Back when we got those amazing character posters for The Force Awakens, which featured Rey, Finn, Han Solo, General Leia and Kylo Ren, one question seemed to be on everyone's mind; where's Poe? The Resistance X-Wing pilot, who's described as "the best friggin' pilot in the galaxy" by Oscar Isaac who portrays him in the film, Poe Dameron's presence in various promotional material has been surprisingly underwhelming as of late. But it seems now Lucasfilm is making up for the lack of Poe with a brand new character poster. Poe is in his flight suit with scars on his face, perhaps implying that we're seeing him after his violent encounter with Kylo Ren that was teased in the trailer. The poster was revealed on the official Star Wars Facebook page, which you can check out below!

Black Leader: standing by. #TheForceAwakens
Posted by Star Wars on Saturday, December 5, 2015

It's also worth noting that they refer to him as "Black Leader", which confirms a long standing rumor that this will be Poe's call sign in the film. It's also most likely a reference to the fact that Poe flies a Black X-Wing at some point in the film, as we have seen in various trailers and TV spots.
