The Plastic Strikes Back - May 2013

The Battle of Hoth continues and the Vintage Collection Wedge Antilles figure makes an appearance in the May update for The Plastic Strikes Back.

This next sequence is one of the iconic in the saga and taking these photos reminded me why I wanted to do this project, The Empire Strikes Back manages to create an amazing sense of motion and action with simple camera work that still conveys this sense when reduced to still images (and has all the characters and vehicles replaced with toys).

I know a lot of people online mentioned having trouble finding the Vintage Collection Wedge, I must have just been lucky as I was able to find one hanging on the pegs early on. I also want to give a shout to this figure of Wes Janson, the expression is perfect for this scene, if I recall correctly it's from the 30th Anniversary Collection (corrections in comments welcome!)

Next I get a chance to show off my new Threepio, it looks a lot better than the old one and has a little more articulation. However it is so shiny that it comes up almost completely green when I use green screen, meaning I had to totally recolour him in photoshop.

Lastly for May, the AT-ATs continue to gain on the shield generator and General Veers orders the Snowtroopers into Echo Base.

The Plastic Strikes Back - April 2013

If you missed it we apologise but the Plastic Strikes Back returns!

Over the last three months production on our project has unfortunately slowed, in February there were constraints on my time due to work. Then March was another slow month as we had to stop production while we built a new display for our ever growing Star Wars collection.

Never fear, we are back in production and the Plastic Strikes Back is now the primary focus over at KM:Star Wars Collector, so let's take a look at what we have done in the last three months.

When we left off we promised the next update would have AT-ATs and here's the first tease as the Rebel Troopers first spot them through their macrobinoculars.

Next we see the Snowspeeder pilots heading out to join the battle.

The Battle of Hoth begins and we see the first Rebel causalities, including poor Dak Ralter.

Most recently we've done this scene with General Veers communicating with Vader in the cockpit of his AT-AT.
