There is a new trend that is sweeping concert halls around the globe, where an orchestra plays the soundtrack to a popular film in sync with the film playing on massive screen behind them.  This has happened with films such as installments of the Star Trek and Harry Potter series.  And now Star Wars is getting that treatment.  Tickets are now available on eventim for a German tour of "Star Wars In Concert" beginning in Frankfurt in February 2018 and there will be 19 performances in 10 German cities between February and April.

By Ciaran Duggan,

Star Wars: In Concert debuted at the 02 Arena in London eight years ago today.

The London concert was one of a worldwide series of concerts featuring specially edited footage from all six of the Star Wars films set to live performances of John Williams' Star Wars score.

The first concert was hosted at the 02 Arena and attended by 20,000 fans. Take a look at the opening sequence of the special Star Wars event down below:

The first of the North American concerts took place in Anaheim, California on October 1, 2009. Each concert was narrated by Anthony Daniels and conducted by Dirk Brosse and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

Back in 2009 and 2010, Lucasfilm put together a Concert tour featuring the legendary music of John Williams performed live by an orchestra with clips from the films playing on a massive screen behind them in arenas around the world.  The concert was hosted by C3PO actor Anthony Daniels who would also tell the story of Star Wars between music pieces.

The concert looks poised to make a comeback in 2016, with the official website being updated to say that concert will be making a return in 2016, though no venues or dates have been announced.  There is an official description of the concert, which reads,

Take part in an unforgettable concert experience with cutting-edge visual technology and sound design. The iconic music of John Williams will guide you through the legendary battle of light and dark and immerse you into the worlds, characters and story of Star Wars.

Be one of the first to get concert information and offers for STAR WARS: IN CONCERT by subscribing now!

You'll be able to secure your tickets before the general public and take advantage of exclusive special offers. Subscribing gives you "members-only" benefits that people in the crowd would dream about having.

I'm very excited by this announcement.  I saw Star Wars: In Concert back in 2009 and it helped reinvigorate my fandom.  I was also lucky enough to go to the Comic Con concert that JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy put together at San Diego Comic Con which was very similar to Star Wars: In Concert in many regards.  Having been to both I can tell you that this will be a can't miss experience and I highly recommend checking it out.  I know I'll be buying my tickets as soon as they go on sale!

Report: 'Star Wars: In Concert' Returning

File this story under the "Oh, yes please!" category.  The team over a MintInBox.net is reporting that 'Star Wars: In Concert' will be returning!  For those unaware, 'Star Wars: In Concert' is a touring concert of a symphony playing Star Wars music with a massive screen playing Star Wars clips that coincide with the music and is hosted by C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels telling the story of Star Wars in chronological order.  To top it off there also a travelling exhibit of Star Wars props and costumes.  According to MintInBox, Anthony Daniels revealed this information at Jedi-Con in Germany.

'Star Wars In Concert' first toured from 2009-2010 and achieved massive success.  I attended the show in Toronto in 2009 and it was fantastic.  It was also the first Star Wars event I ever attended, so it holds a special place for me.  I also have thought for sometime that bringing back 'Star Wars: In Concert' would be a great way to promote Episode VII, and it seems the folks Lucasfilm agree.

If you want to find out about the show (there are some great behind the scenes videos) and to find how to buy tickets when new dates are announced visit: www.starwarsinconcert.com
