Star Wars Celebration: Smuggler's Bounty

Star Wars Celebration Anaheim will bear witness to the debut of the highly anticipated audio dramatic triumph known as Star Wars: Smuggler's Bounty. Best known for directing the successful film about Star Wars fans Fanboys, Kyle Newman will retake his seat in the director’s chair for this audio drama, which will be performed live at Star Wars Celebration.

The premise of the show will revolve around Han Solo during the time period of the Original Trilogy. The audio performance will incorporate hosts from all three of the Celebration stages, namely David Collins (Digital Stage) who will star as Han Solo in the play, James Arnold Taylor (Celebration Stage) who will also be lending his voice to the show, and Jimmy Mac (co-host Behind-The Scenes stage) who will be producing the the play live.  The play was co-written by filmmaker F.J. DeSanto.

The exclusive showcase of this audio phenomenon will be met with thunderous cheers. The predecessor titled Star Wars: Smugglers Gambit was a splendid accomplishment. This new drama will incorporate a group of star-studded voice actors and actresses (which also includes Clone Wars veterans, Sam Witwer and Jamie King), the show will also capture the imagination through the integration of magnificent special effects and sound design. You will surely not want to miss out on this treat.

'Star Wars: Tarkin' Audio Excerpt Read by Stephen Stanton

Nerdist has released a brand new audio excerpt from the recently released novel Star Wars: Tarkin read by Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actor and friend of The SWU Stephen Stanton!  It was also produced by another friend of ours, Jimmy Mac from RebelForce Radio!  Stanton portrayed Tarkin in several episodes of The Clone Wars.  The novel is written by James Luceno and available now.  Check out the excerpt below,

It's great to hear Stephen reprizing his role from The Clone Wars.  I love that they're continuing this trend of having Star Wars voice talent read excerpts from the novel and hope they continue it as we move forward with the novels.  This has previously been done for the "Legends" novels: Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor), Razor's Edge (Cathering Taber), Maul: Lockdown (Sam Witwer), and Honor Among Thieves (David Collins), as well as the canon novel A New Dawn (Vanessa Marshall).

Star Wars Celebration Site Updated

Excitement for the next Star Wars Celebration has been building lately. We're now less than a year away from the biggest party in the Galaxy arriving in Anaheim, California, and that means Lucasfilm is already gearing up for it! Today they revealed a brand new update to the official Celebration website!

The new redesign is massive, featuring a brand new Celebration Anaheim logo(seen above), profiles for all the stage hosts, applications for joining the Celebration art show, creating your own panels, reserving exhibit space & more. Also featured prominently on the front page is a fun video of James Arnold Taylor, who will host the Celebration stage. You can see it below:



You can also scroll to the bottom and to see a clock counting down the seconds until the convention starts on April 16, 2015!

RebelForce Radio's Jason Swank & Jimmy Mac To Host Celebration Anaheim Behind The Scenes Stage

It's April and, as promised, we have our first host announcement for Celebration Anaheim has arrived! Jason Swank and Jimmy "Mac" McInerney, hosts of the very popular RebelForce Radio Podcast, have been revealed as the hosts of the Behind the scenes stage at the convention. The news came via the latest issue of Star Wars Insider Magazine. RFR's Facebook page shared a photo of the article in Insider featuring the announcement. Jimmy and Jason are veteran Podcasters and expert interviewers. With cast & crew from the original six films and the Clone Wars, as well as Episode VII and Star Wars Rebels, all converging on Anaheim next year, the behind the scenes stage is one portion of Celebration that is not to be missed.

Star Wars Celebration Anaheim comes to the Anaheim convention center in Anaheim, California April 16th - 19th, 2015! We can't wait to see Jason & Jimmy there!

David Collins Reads Excerpt From 'Honor Among Thieves'

Continuing the trend of having Jimmy Mac of RebelForce Radio produce audio previews of recently released novels.  This time, it's David Collins of Smuggler's Gambit and The Force Unleashed fame reading an excerpt from James A. Corey's Honor Among Thieves.  The excerpt features Collins reprising his role as Han Solo from the audio drama Smuggler's Gambit preformed at Celebration VI in 2012.  You can find the preview over at the StarWars.com Blog.

Sam Witwer Reads 'Maul: Lockdown' Excerpt

Entertainment Weekly has continued their series of Star Wars novels excerpts read by voice actors from The Clone Wars animated series and produced by Rebelforce Radio's Jimmy Mac.  This time Sam Witwer (voice of Darth Maul) read an excerpt from Joe Schreiber's recently released Maul: Lockdown.   The reading not only features Witwer reading the excerpt and reprisning his Clone Wars role for Maul's dialogue, but he also slips into his Darth Sidious voice (whom he played in The Force Unleashed video game). On top of that, Jimmy Mac added fantastic sound effect and music to enhance the experience.

It's fantastic to see this series of audio excerpts from the novels continuing, not only because they're incredibly well produced and preformed, but also because they keep The Clone Wars cast active in the fan community after being amazing ambassadors for the show to the fans during its five year run.

"Razor's Edge" Excerpt Read by Catherine Taber

If you enjoyed James Arnold Taylor's reading of an excerpt from Kenobi, well we've got a treat for you!  Entertainment Weekly has another such reading, this time featuring Catherine Taber (Leia in The Force Unleashed and Detours, and Padme on The Clone Wars) reading an except from Martha Wells' new novel Star Wars: Razor's Edge.  And they've taken it a step further this time.  Jimmy Mac, co-host of RebelForce Radio, produced the clip and included, unlike the Kenobi excerpt, features classic Star Wars music and sound effects.

Report: Liam McIntyre Auditioned for Role in Episode VII

It's time to add another name to the list of actors in the running for roles in Episode VII.  Liam McIntyre, of Spartacus fame, revealed to RebelForce Radio correspondent and Star Wars Report host Riley Blanton during Dragon Con this past weekend that he read for the role of a Jedi in Star Wars Episode VII.  More details to follow during Riley's report from Dragon Con on tomorrow's RebelForce Radio.  Be Sure to tune in, it sounds like it will definitely be worth a listen!

Dave Filoni: Rebels' Animation Will Be "Different" From Clone Wars

Our good friend Jimmy Mac recently interviewed Dave Filoni on RebelForce Radio and, as usual, Dave had a lot to say. For those who don't know, Dave is the former Supervising Director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and is now Executive Producer of the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels alongside Greg Weisman & Simon Kinberg. Aside from discussing the Clone Wars' bonus content and almost confirming that those in attendance at Star Wars Celebration Europe II will indeed get a first look at Rebels, Dave gives us some hints at what the new series will look like:

"It's not gonna be like Clone Wars, it's gonna be different.... In some of the very early development for Clone Wars, one of the things I really wanted to try and do was capture the look of Ralph Mcquarrie.... Clone Wars kinda developed it's own style and George wanted a very unique look to the faces of the characters and the angularity... Here(in Rebels) we can just kind of apply what we learned on Clone Wars and what was successful and what wasn't and I can really attack what I really wanted to before, which was really getting to that look that Ralph achieved much more directly in a much more defined way than we ever did on Clone Wars" And later he added; "This time we're going more with an animated style."
