First Look At 'Episode VIII' Toy Packaging

By Ciaran Duggan,

Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac all feature on the cover of 'The Last Jedi' toy packaging as fans are treated to a first look at a much changed Rey.

The most striking visual on the toy's cover is the stylistic change of Rey's hair for the upcoming movie.

The hair is no longer tied in a bow and is much longer than fans last saw in 'The Force Awakens.'

In contrast to this, Poe and Finn appear almost identical to the characters we grew to know in 'The Force Awakens' (right down to the outfits that they adorn).

Rumor: 'Force Friday' 2017 Scheduled for September 1st

By: Dominic Jones

For the last two years, the launch of the products tying in to that year's film has taken place on a Friday in September, dubbed "Force Friday" (or "Rogue Friday").  It looks like 2017 will be no different (not that anyone expected it to).  Jedi-Bibliothek is reporting that "Force Friday" 2017 is scheduled for September 1st.  This will be the day that the first wave of toys and products tying in to Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi will hit shelves (and digital shelves).  This would line up with previous years where "Force Friday" events were held on September 4th in 2015 and September 30th in 2016.

Report: First Look At Black Series Stormtrooper Helmet

By: Benjamin Hart

For the past few weeks we've been receiving numerous rumors and leaks regarding what toys and merchandise will be released on "Rogue Friday"(formerly Force Friday), September 30th. One of the items that bore mentioning was a Hasbro voice changing Stormtrooper helmet from The Black Series. Jedi Temple Archives were the first to report on the helmet, and now they have followed up on that by releasing the first images of the helmet. You can see it unboxed above and the packaging below:

This looks like a really cool piece and I can't wait to add it to my collection when it hits retailers on September 30th!

Video Reviews Surface Of 'Rogue One' Black Series Figures

By: Benjamin Hart

With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story right around the corner excitement is building, not just for the film itself, but the toys that come with it! Force Friday(or Rogue Friday as it's rumored to be called) is set to take place on September 30th this year and a ton of action figures and other merchandise from the film is set to be released. Ahead of that event, we've been getting some sneak peaks at figures from Rogue One's six-inch Black Series line via some leaks.

While action figure reviews aren't something we normally consider to be news, the following videos are a bit different. Our friends at Making Star Wars alerted us to some video reviews that YouTuber Chefatron uploaded to his channel. Chefatron apparently was able to get his hands on four of the new Rogue One figures, which included the six-inch Black Series Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, K-2SO and Death Trooper. He reviewed each figure in individual videos in which he gives us our first good look at the toys and their packaging. You can watch all of the reviews below:

One interesting thing to note is the fact that the Cassian figure includes the name "Eadu" in parentheses after the title, similar to how Jedha is added to the Jyn figure's label. I think it's safe to assume that Eadu is another planet that will appear in Rogue One on which Cassian will wear this particular costume. There is at least one other location that we see in the trailer that doesn't appear to be Jedha or Scarif, so that could be Eadu.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is in theaters December 16th!

Rumor: Hasbro's 6" Figures for 'Force Friday' 2016 Revealed

While still not officially announced, "Force Friday" is expected to return on September 30th, 2016 to launch the new products tying into Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which hits theaters in December.  Today, Jedi News revealed what fans can expect from toy company Hasbro when it comes to 6" action figures on Force Friday 2016.  The list is mostly focused on Rogue One characters (for obvious reasons) with a few The Force Awakens favorites thrown in for good measure.

The figures will be (via Jedi News),
  • Rey / BB-8 (Re-Pack)
  • Kylo Ren (new mould)
  • Rogue One: Jyn Erso
  • Rogue One: Stormtrooper
  • Medical Droid
  • Rogue One: "Seal Team Male" - Forest Whitaker's character.
It does seem a little odd that there will only be three characters from Rogue One on sale, given that this event is suppose to be in promotion of Rogue One.  There's always a possibility that the Medical Droid on the list is actually the Enforcer droid played by Alan Tudyk (via motion capture performance) and there has been some sort of mix up.

As always, this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm, Disney, or Hasbro.

Rumor: Preliminary Plans For Force Friday 2016 Revealed

By: Benjamin Hart

The release of Star Wars films in December is becoming a yearly event, and with each of them comes tons of new merchandise for the movie. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is coming up this year, and in conjunction, a second Force Friday event. The last one, which took place on September 4th, 2015, saw the midnight release of the first wave of toys related to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This year, on September 30th, the first Rogue One toys will be available to buy during the second annual Force Friday, but a new report suggests we could be getting some merchandise even sooner.

Jedi Temple Archives is reporting that there will be eight 6-inch Black Series action figures for Rogue One. While most of them will debut on Force Friday, one of the figures will be available early along with three other items. Jedi Temple Archives explains further:

"Call it a special event, or call it a pre-sale, but FOUR items (think of them as "Sneak Preview" items) will be available online for pre-sale a couple of weeks BEFORE Force Friday this year. It's currently unknown if these items will be IN STOCK at the times these go up for pre-order, but it seems like this is a strong possibility. Otherwise, why go through all of this trouble. These items include:

  • The Black Series 6" Female Lead figure
  • A 3.75" vehicle for the 5POA range
  • The Stormtrooper (OT) voice changer helmet (TBS)
  • one other item that our Research Droids haven't been able to isolate yet (stay tuned)"

As always, this is just a rumor until confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm.

Report: Force Friday 2016 Scheduled for September 30th

By: Dominic Jones

Time to start saving up!  Our friends at Jedi News are reporting that they have heard from multiple Star Wars licensees that a Force Friday event, when all the merchandise for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will hit shelves, is scheduled for September 30th.
This is exciting news.  Force Friday was a fun event for a lot of fans last year when The Force Awakens merchandise was released.  Hopefully, with the experience of already having done one of these last year, they will be able to avoid some of the issues, like not having enough product on the shelves, that surrounded the first Force Friday.  This also probably means we won't be seeing any Rogue One toys revealed until right before the event (I  hope they bring back the global unboxing event, that was a fun idea!)

Are you excited for Force Friday 2016?  Let us know in the comments!
