Episode VIII Film Crews Arrive in North of Ireland

By Ciaran Duggan,

According to The Donegal Daily and the BBC, it is believed that Star Wars: Episode VIII film crews have arrived in County Donegal, in the last day or so. There was already widespread rumors and speculation about the possibility of Episode VIII crews arriving in the country, and it looks as though those rumors were true.

Trucks and Cranes have arrived at Malin Head, the Inishowen Peninsula, in the last couple of days. Donegal Daily journalist, Stephen Maguire, spoke with BBC Radio Ulster about the reaction of local residents:

"There's huge excitement in the area. We don't know what they are filming, or what exact scenes are being filmed, but the reason they want to film here has to be the spectacular scenery. We just hope its not a trap."

Maguire hit on the main question on everyone's lips. What scene(s) are being filmed in this county? We will have to wait on the answer to that one in December 2017.

BBC Interviews with Harrison Ford and JJ Abrams About 'The Force Awakens'

By: Dominic Jones

The BBC's entertainment corespondent Lizo Mzimba sat down with Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Harrison Ford and director JJ Abrams to the new film.

Mzimba asked Ford about his return to Star Wars and whether he felt nostalgic at all, Ford replied,
"I don't think nostalgia is very useful to me. There is a story to be told, there's behaviour to create or to bring to the screen that will help tell that story, and nostalgia is just not really a big part of my emotional package anyway."

On what we expect from Han in the new film, Ford said,
"This new opportunity to play the character again recognises a passage of time, and there are indications in the film about how he came to develop, how the relationships between him and other characters have developed off-screen and so it adds some degree of interest and there are new aspects of his nature, perhaps, which we'll see."

Mzimba asked Abrams about the secrecy on the new film, Abrams replied,
"Everyone wants the same thing, which is for people to experience a Star Wars movie and not have it to be ruined like so many films are before it comes out.

I can't tell you how excited I am for you to meet these new characters and see the story, and it's frustrating that you haven't gotten to see the movie yet because it would be so much easier to talk about aspects of it, but at the same time it makes me nuts when I go to see a movie and I feel like I already know what's going to happen."

On what made him decide to cast John Boyega (Finn) and Daisy Ridley (Rey) in the lead roles, Abrams said,
"I was required to hire Brits... That's not true. They were just amazing. Daisy first of all is a revelation. She's unbelievable in this movie.

John, I already knew from Attack the Block, who I just adored in that film. I think he was 17 when he acted in that movie and made me laugh and made me cry and was just so wonderful."

Rumor: New Character Name from Rogue One Unveiled

By Ciaran Duggan

Over the past few weeks there has been an abundant amount of material released in relation to the Force Awakens, notably TV spots, trailer and posters. It is easy to forget that there is another Star Wars film in the works, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.  Today, a new character from the film has been revealed. Star Wars News Net has forwarded a tweet released today by BBC Journalist, Lizo Mzimba. Here is what he had to say….

The details on Riz Ahmed’s character remain meagre. We have only seen a couple of images over the course of the year in relation to both the film and his character. Based on his attire, one could presume that he is a technician and mechanic, but one should be cautious of making too many theoretical assumptions.

All one can say for now is that as more character information is released, the hype for Rogue One will soon to develop.
