Ever since they first appeared in the behind the scenes reel for Star Wars: The Last Jedi at the D23 Expo, Porgs have captured the hearts and minds of Star Wars fans. The bird-like creatures were inspired by the real world puffins that live on Skellig Michael, where the final scene of The Force Awakens was shot. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Finn actor John Boyega shared his thoughts on Porgs and what it was like seeing them on set. The interview was a released as part of EW's online coverage of The Last Jedi, which coincides with a cover story about the film in this week's issue.
"I just remember doing some stuff and seeing a lot of porgs around.. And they are interesting, but for me, I had a
love/hate relationship with them. They’re very, very cute, but when you
put them in a bunch, in holes, on the Millennium Falcon, that’s when
they start to become really, really freaky."
While Boyega may find the Progs a bit freaky, his co-star Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico) has embraced Porg fandom by dressing as one for Halloween!
Also revealed by EW in a video by Anthony Breznican, who wrote all the features about The Last Jedi this week, the Porgs do come with our heroes when they leave Ach-To. Check out the video below,
