The first entry in the Thrawn Trilogy - Heir to the Empire - was republished for its 20th year anniversary on this day in 2011. The 20th anniversary edition included a new cover and annotations from author Timothy Zahn.
Heir to the Empire was first published by publishing company Bantam Spectra in June 1991. It was later adapted into a comic in 1995 by Dark Horse Comics. The narration for the later abridged audio book was provided by Denis Lawson, the actor who portrayed Wedge Antilles.
Heir to the Empire: The 20th Anniversary Edition was published just over 20 years later and contained the new novella Crisis of Faith, written by Zahn, which featured Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Marc Thompson, who voiced the audio version of the novelisation of Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens, narrated an unabridged audio book of the 20th anniversary edition of Heir to the Empire.
The book, which is no longer considered canon, continues the Star Wars story five years on from the destruction of the Death Star and lays the foundations for a new fight between the Empire and the Rebellion.
Timothy Zahn has since written a new novel called Thrawn, based off the character introduced in Star Wars: Rebels, which is a part of canon and set in between Episode III and Episode IV.
