Dave Filoni Debunks Popular Fan Theory About Ahsoka in Season Four of 'Rebels'

By now, most Star Wars Rebels fans have heard of Dave Filoni's little t-shirt stunt at Star Wars Celebration in April which appeared to confirm that, yes, Ahsoka Tano will return in season four of Star Wars Rebels.  If you haven't heard about it, what happened was Filoni, the creator and executive producer of Rebels, appeared on the Star Wars Rebels season four preview panel wearing a t-shirt that read "Ahsoka Lives?"  Towards the end of the panel, the lights dimmed and when they came back on Filoni's shirt had been changed to "Ahsoka Lives!"

Since this stunt, there has been much speculation about how Ahsoka could return.  She was last seen descending in the Sith temple on Malachor after somehow surviving her duel with Darth Vader in the season two finale.  This led to speculation that when she returned she would appear in some sort form other than her body.   Some took this even further, suggesting that the white wolf that Ezra and Sabine are seen riding in the season four trailer.

Well, it appears that this is not the case.  Filoni celebrated his 43rd birthday today (Happy Birthday Dave!) and, as a special treat for fans, tweeted out a drawing he did that appears to confirm Ahsoka is not the wolf in the trailer.  The drawing features the wolf, labeled as "The Wolf"; a convor (the owl creatures that keep appearing on Rebels and The Clone Wars), labeled as "Owl"; and Ahsoka, labeled as "Not the Wolf".  Filoni included the caption, "It might be my Birthday, but here is a gift, and perhaps a clarification, for you."  Check out the drawing for yourself below,
Personally, I'm glad that Ahsoka is not the wolf.  While I certainly wouldn't rule out Ahsoka appearing in some more ethereal form, I would be disappointed if our final (for now) vision of Ahsoka didn't look and sound like Ahsoka.  That being said, seeing her as some sort of Force specter or vision would be a fitting conclusion to her arc (though I'm still disappointed the show robbed us of the opportunity to see how her confrontation with Vader actually played out).   And there is still plenty of compelling evidence that this is the case, as this video from Star Wars Explained lays out (yes, it was released prior to Dave's clarification, however the analysis is still intriguing even if it reaches an incorrect conclusion),

Season four of Star Wars Rebels will debut on Disney XD this fall.  The 15 episode run, will be the show's final season.  Filoni described the season at Star Wars Celebration as being "not like anything else that we've ever done" and "a little dark."  Other highlights for fans to look forward to include the return of Forest Whittaker as Saw Gerrera and the debut of Warwick Davis as Thrawn's body guard Ruhk.  If you haven't seen it already, or just want to see it again, check out the trailer below,
