By Ciaran Duggan,

Hasbro released the first collection of toys for the movie Star Wars: The Phantom Menace on this day in 1999.

The most sought after Star Wars action figure at the time was the iconic Sith Warrior we now know as Darth Maul.

Other new characters released included Qui Gon Jiin, Padme Amidala, Boss Nass, Captain Tarpals, Aurra Sing, Nute Gunray and a young Anakin Skywalker.

The first Star Wars action figures from The Phantom Menace were released in 1998 by Hasbro, about half a year before the full Episode I toyline was officially released by Hasbro.

Do you remember collecting any of these toys? Let us know in the comments below.
